January 2008
Congratulations to Tony Nixon who coached the Hutt Valley Representative Men's team to win the 2008 National Provincial Championship. He had limited preparation and the bare minimum of players available to participate in the event. His organisation and commitment to the team has been remarkable as he jelled everyone into a focused, self believing group who overcame numerous barriers and at times seemingly losing situations to claim the national title.
December 2007
Congratulations to Johnny Lomax, who coaches the Wainuiomata Rugby League club team. He accepted the position when they had no coach and only limited players at pre-season training. With his expertise Johnny turned the team around against all odds by winning the Wellington Rugby League championship and then shocked everyone by winning the inaugral National Club championship undefeated. Johnny and the team "returned pride to Wainui" and the local community through an outstanding performance and limited resources.
